Weds there was a blizzard, and I had to be in work! I wanted to be able to get some photographs of the snow, so I brought my camera in with me. I knew I wouldn't be going anywhere during lunch which was the worst part of the storm, (we were pretty much snowed in). My friend at work has a window at the front desk, and he feeds the birds year round! So I sat at the window for about 15 minutes, and got some photos of the birds that were hanging out there! The cardinal is by far my favorite!
This is by far my favorite memory of the blizzard of 2011!
All of these photographs were taken from inside the building where it was warm, looking out into the wild weather. It looks calm here, but the birds were between tall bushes and the building, where they were protected from the wind. All of the photographs were taken on the "snow scene" setting on my camera and metered off the birds beaks! So while it may look like I was hiding in the bushes to take these pictures I was actually inside. When shooting from the inside out, just be sure to put your lens right up to the glass if you are shooting through it. This will eliminate unwanted reflections. This just shows that you can get great winter photographs without having to go outside! I take pictures of the birds at home this way all the time! Why not, it works for me! =)
This is a young sparrow, so cute!
Don't know what type bird this was, but it was adorable!
Waiting patiently for a spot at the feeder!
Enjoy the snow everyone! Even if you can't get out into it! =0)
