Scituate Lighthouse ~ An added touch to create a magical photograph!

Although lighthouses are beautiful anytime, they were really meant to be seen in stormy weather. After all, that is what they were made for. They are there to protect sailors and fisherman out at sea and safely guide them to shore. This picture was taken on a foggy morning. About 5:00am!! I got up to take sunrise pictures and got dressed before looking out the window and seeing all the fog! Where else do you go on a foggy morning when you were looking forward to taking pictures? I decided to go to Scituate! And I am so glad that I did!

This picture or pictures were taken in slow motion. There is actually two photographs here! Both taken in slow motion in RAW, and then I used image overlay in my camera to merge the two photographs together. Normally when I do this, I have one photo in focus, and one out of focus. But this was a test shot, and I did them both on slow shutter speeds, and both in focus with an aperture of about 22. The original photo(s) came out really well, the light was bright and the fog was great, but it still lacked something! I have a new software on my computer, and one setting was called illumination! And it had a setting sun burst! I tried it out, and moved the "sun burst" to line up with the light, and created a magical picture that reminds me of a painting. This is how it looked when I was at the lighthouse, I just couldn't capture the rays of light that the lighthouse was giving off! Now I can! =) Don't worry, I will always tell you if a photo is touched up! I still try to get the photos I want in camera, but sometimes it is fun to add a special touch to them! I hope you enjoy it! Click on the photo to enlarge it, and you will see what beauty the rays added to the photo! =)
