Someone once told me that I was a colorful sole living in a black and white world. At the time I was a photographer at heart working as a bookkeeper! Well, yesterday truly felt like a black and white world with just a touch of color as I drove through Maine to the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse.
Almost no color at all! But I kept on going! Next stop Portland Head Lighthouse!
Just as I got to Portland, the clouds opened, and the sun began to set, and all the colors that were hidden all day long came to life for just a brief moment! When that happens, you have to be ready, or you will miss it in the blink of an eye!
It was getting dark, and I saw this fishing boat off in the distance, and I knew from being there before where he was heading so I waited!! PATIENCE FILTER 101! Wait for the photo to happen!!! If I hadn't waited, I would have missed this shot completely!
Well, it was the perfect ending to a day without color! The only tip I can give for pictures at sunrise or sunset is to keep shooting!!! Look around at any angle you can, and let the photographs happen! These hours of the day are called the magical hours, because the colors are so beautiful and they only last for a brief moment, so take the time to enjoy them when you can!!
